Travel Advice

Qaqortoq Airport is a new regional airport in South Greenland that opened on April 16, 2026, taking over the role as the region’s primary airport from Narsarsuaq Airport. At the same time, Narsarsuaq is gradually being scaled down from an international airport to a more regional role, including helicopter operations.

From Copenhagen

From Copenhagen, travelers can fly to Qaqortoq with Air Greenland via Nuuk.
During the summer season, Icelandair also operates flights to Qaqortoq via Keflavík, Iceland, with up to four weekly departures from June to September.

Traveling Along the Greenlandic Coast

Many visitors enjoy sailing along the Greenlandic coast. The coastal ferry calls at all major towns along the west coast. It is a great experience, and whales are often spotted during the journey. If you wish to travel along the coast by sea, Qaqortoq is an excellent place to either begin your holiday or end it if you are traveling south from Northern Greenland. The coastal ferry can be booked through Arctic Umiaq Line.
